THIRAL 2026
Rise. Compete. Conquer
In the demanding routine of medical education, sports offer more than just a break from
academics- they build discipline, resilience and teamwork. PSG IMS&R has recognized the
importance of nurturing mind and body, and THIRAL 2026 stood as a testament to that
commitment. Aptly named Thiral signifying strength and excellence, the event embodied the
determination and spirit displayed by students throughout the season.
Preparations for THIRAL began as early as November 2025, with months of planning and
coordination culminating in one of the most anticipated events of the academic year. Beginning
on 25th February, the competition brought together three batches in a vibrant showcase of
athletic talent, sportsmanship, and batch pride.
From track and field events to indoor games, team sports, and e-sports, students competed across
a diverse range of events. What made the tournament particularly remarkable was the dedication
shown by participants, many of whom continued training and preparing even during
examinations. Their commitment reflected the true spirit of a medical student, striving for
excellence both inside and outside the classroom.
The enthusiasm extended far beyond the competitors. Grounds and courts were filled with
cheering classmates providing unwavering support.
As tradition dictates, THIRAL concluded with its much-awaited marathon, drawing an
overwhelming number of participants from across batches. More than a race, it served as a
celebration of unity and community spirit.
After weeks of competition, Astraea emerged victorious as the overall champions. Mourya and
Lakshaya of 2024 batch bagged the best individual championship and Abhishek from 2023
batch and Vishruthi from 2024 batch snagged the best sportsperson award.
The success of THIRAL would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the Sports
Secretaries and Representatives, faculty coordinators and participants.
