Title - Where do we draw the line?
Anti-ragging measures are established to provide a healthy and supportive environment for college students and prevent the harassment of junior students. This includes physical, verbal, emotional or sexual abuse of juniors, usually at the hands of senior students which affect the students’ health and academic performance. To prevent this, awareness must be raised about the consequences of ragging and rules regarding punishment for those who commit these vile acts must be strictly enforced. However, these measures should not prevent junior and senior students from interacting and provisions must be made to ensure that students do not misuse these rules for personal gain. Before convicting someone of ragging, the complaint must be thoroughly analysed to rule out any misunderstandings or individual conflicts. This is necessary to protect the accused students from stress and harm to reputation. While it is important that anti-ragging measures are enforced, it is equally important that all cases of ragging must be investigated without bias in order to maintain healthy junior-senior interactions and a positive learning atmosphere in college
